Two generations later, it’s run by Milton Sánchez Marin, who inherited it in 1986, when his father, Milton Sánchez Cortes, passed away. For more than 100 years, farm has been producing coffee and striving to achieve the highest quality. Part of that effort has included taking advantage of the farm’s natural divisions—the streams and backstreets that crisscross it— to select special cup profiles that arise from each one. Some of these lots have family names, such as Berta Eugenia, in memory of Milton Sánchez Marin’s mother. This coffee comes from the Jujumeca plot, named after the five brothers who inherited the land from Julio Sanchez Lepiz. By their description, it is a reminder to the present generation of how their legacy began and that family sticks together.
