The Q graders in our cupping lab scored this coffee 86.5.
San Marcos comes from a single producer, Rony Hernandez, in San Marcos de Caiquin. This community is on the southeast outskirts of the Celaque National Park and has the Pacaya Volcano Biological Reserve, a complex of active volcanoes, to the southwest. Coffee production in this region isn’t just a source of income but of great pride, tied to many traditions. Specialty coffee has been a focus for some time, and producers mostly gather into groups and co-ops, to improve their financial access. Don Rony picks only ripe, red cherry and delivers it to the wet mill the same day. This lot was selected from the best of his harvests.
