The Q graders in our cupping lab scored this coffee 86.

This coffee was grown by the farmer members of the Shari Farmers Cooperative, in the Hai district of the Kilimanjaro region. It was processed at a central pulping facility with a Penegos machine, which can pulp 500 kg of coffee cherry per hour. Hai is one of the Kilimanjaro region’s seven districts and is distinctive for being among the highest in altitude. As in the other districts, coffee production here is extremely important to almost everyone in the community. The Shari Farmers Cooperative was established in the 1960s, and it formally began operating as an independent cooperative in 1993. In 2004, the group separated from the Union of KNCU and started to sell its coffee independently, at the national coffee auction. The group has approximately 70 members and produces about 15 metric tons of coffee each season.
